Almost 3 months since the rescue event, most of these cats arrived in Beijing have recovered from their physical injury and illness. Many of them were able to recover from the trauma in a short period and regain their trust of humans, and these cats were the first ones to be re-homed. "Big Huang" in the picture was one of the lucky ones, he was adopted by one of our volunteers on the day he arrived in Beijing.

Some others weren't so lucky, they were traumatised and hurt deeply by the cruel treatment while being captured by the illegal cat meat traders. Take Moli for example, he has been taken in by our co-founder Xiaoli to care for at her own home, due to his dramatic reaction to both human and other cats. It took almost 3 months for Xiaoli to be able to pet him just a little bit on the head. The road for his full recovery is still very long.

Another lucky one is Pearl, who has been living at TACN Beijing Rescue Centre for a few weeks now. Pearl took a long time to recover from her physical injury and illness, but luckily she wasn't mentally scarred as bad as Moli, therefore she's quite friendly and happy to be around people and other animals. Seeing the amazing transformation she had undergone, and how happy and relaxed she is now, is just so heartwarming and makes all the hard work worth-well.

We have also launched our free microchipping programme - [color=#4a91b0 !important]Xinpet Aiming to solve the problem from the root by systematically and efficiently managing stray animals, semi-stray cats, rescued animals, adopted animals and more. We have now microchipped many of the rescued cats arrived in Beijing from Wuhan under our care, as well as the ones who have been adopted. We have made microchipping a compulsive requirement for any adopters who come forward for these cat meat trade survivors, as we want to make sure that these cats have the extra protection they need. We will have more detailed introduction about Xinpet Microchipping Programme and how it would be an effective way to tackle the illegal dog and cat meat trade in China. So stay tuned and please keep checking back our[color=#4a91b0 !important]Facebook page for more updates.
